Úrscéilín é seo a chaitheas súil ar an tSlaivéin, tír bheag shamhailteach in Oirthear na hEorpa. Chonaic muintir na tíre seo an tUileloscadh agus an Stailíneachas, ach níor briseadh a meanma ná a misneach faoi bhrú na staire gránna seo féin. Anois, áfach, gheal lá na saoirse agus d'imigh scáil an tSóivéadachais, ach tháinig géarchéim nua ag bagairt ar an tír ón taobh istigh. Fear óg íogair é Adam Jokamies a tháinig i gcrann i gCríoch Lochlann, beag beann ar an gcineál cruatan a ndeachaigh muintir na Slaivéine tríd. D'fhág an tSlaivéin faoi dhraíocht é, áfach, agus é ag tabhairt aghaidhe ar an tír anois le teanga na tíre a fhoghlaim. Tá an t-úrscéal seo ag cur thar maoil le cultúr agus le cuimhní cinn Oirthear na hEorpa, rud is annamh a d'fheicfeá i litríocht na Gaeilge. Ach is scéal grá é chomh maith, agus é ar na cinn is earótai sa teanga. --- This novella is set in Slavenia, a small imaginary country in Eastern Europe. Although its inhabitants experienced both the Holocaust and Stalinism, their spirit and courage remained unbroken. Slavenia is now a free and independent country, but a new internal crisis seems to threaten the fledging democracy. The hero, Adam Jokamies, a sensitive young man from Scandinavia, is unaware of the great hardship the Slavenians have suffered in the recent past. He is nonetheless so entranced by Slavenia and its distinctive character, that he has come to the country to learn its language. Unusually for Irish literature, the culture of Eastern Europe and the history of the region are everywhere in this book. The novella is also, however, a love story and indeed one of the most erotic tales ever written in modern Irish.

'You won't find a more honest, raw and helpful look into the trenches of founding a tech startup than this book' Nir Eyal, author of Hooked 'Rand Fishkin is the real deal' Seth Godin, entrepreneur and author ----------- Everyone knows how a startup story is supposed to go: a young, brilliant entrepreneur has an cool idea, drops out of college, defies the doubters, overcomes all odds, makes billions and becomes the envy of the technology world. This is not that story. Rand Fishkin, the founder and former CEO of Moz, is one of the world's leading experts on SEO. Moz is now a $45 million a year business, but Fishkin's business and reputation took 15 years to grow, and his startup began not in a Harvard dorm room but as a mother-and-son family business that fell deeply into debt. Now Fishkin pulls back the curtain on tech startup mythology, exposing the ups and downs of startup life that most CEOs would rather keep secret. For instance: a minimally viable product can be destructive if you launch at the wrong moment. Growth hacking may be the buzzword du jour, but initiatives to your business can fizzle quickly. Revenue and profitability won't protect you from layoffs. And venture capital always comes with strings attached. In Lost and Founder Fishkin reveals the mostly awful, sometimes awesome truth about startup culture with the transparency and humour that his hundreds of thousands of blog readers have come to love. Fishkin's hard-won lessons are applicable to any kind of business environment and this book can help solve your problems, and make you feel less alone for having them. ----------- 'This is a truly courageous book. It's one part business-building guide and two parts Indiana Jones-style adventure memoir' Chris Guillebeau, author of Side Hustle and The $100 Startup 'Rand Fishkin is like the industry friend we all wish we had - funny, warm, and refreshingly honest about the rollercoaster ride that is founding your own company' Julie Zhou, VP of Product Design at Facebook

Search Engine Marketing for the Chinese Market

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: 1, FH OÖ Standort Steyr, course: Marketing & E-Business, language: English, abstract: Globalization has brought new opportunities to developing countries, and within the last few decades, especially the People's Republic of China transformed itself from a developing nation behind the bamboo curtain to one of the most influential nations on the world market. China's online population is growing very fast and counted already more than 560 million users in 2012, with a share of more than 70% of mobile Internet users. The Internet has become an indispensable tool for finding information quickly using a search engine. Therefore, for companies trading in China, their website will undoubtedly be vital in enhancing their public image and increasing sales volumes, and improving this website through search engine marketing (SEM) will be crucial to succeed. Due to huge cultural differences and governmental censorship of the Internet in mainland China, doing online business in this country is definitely different as in the Western world. To find out what is necessary for launching an international company website in China successfully, this paper describes and critically analyses the basic knowledge about China's online users and its online media world as well as search engines available in China and the challenges Chinese internet users face because of The Great Firewall. Aiming to provide key input for effective search engine marketing, this thesis combines theoretical background from various literary sources with the results of the author's online survey and interviews with four online marketing experts, who give an insight into their in-depth know-how of China's online marketing world and to provide advice on effective SEM for China's leading search engine Baidu. Clearly, as this papers shows, practising successful SEO depends on the combination of many different factors and actions. Writing original content, proper usage of keywords, incoming links from authoritative sites and other Baidu-sites are just some issues to be considered. Furthermore a Chinese ISP and content written in well-articulated 'Simplified Chinese' are other keys to success. Doing SEA for Baidu is quite challenging, especially for foreigners, because it requires experience with SEA, cultural understanding and perfect knowledge of Chinese to find the right keywords and handle Baidu's SEA and Analytics tool. Nevertheless, understanding China's culture and language is an important factor achieving good online visibility in China.
